A selection of tips to guide you through some behavioural issues common with rescue dogs
All dogs are different. So these few tips are not intended to fix all problems for all dogs. However, this free resource may just give you some advice on how to tackle some of the most common issues that I am asked about. If you have a specific issue you would like to discuss, then please contact me.
About me
I've loved and lived with dogs of all shapes and sizes for most of my life.
In 2018 I started fostering dogs saved from horrendous shelters in Romania and Spain. Many of these dogs have never lived in a home and some have experienced real trauma at the hands of us humans. My family and I have now fostered many dogs and have had to learn a lot about how to help these troubled dogs to adjust and settle into happy homes.
I wanted to learn more, so in 2020, I completed a Diploma in Canine Behaviour with the ISCP and have loved learning more about how to help our troubled canine friends using positive, force free methods.
As I have become more involved with helping rescue dogs, working with several different rescues, I see many adopters struggling, so I wanted to help others. I now volunteer my time supporting other fosterers and adopters, working with and fostering some of the more troubled dogs. As well as offering 1:1 support, I thought it might be helpful to share some hints and tips for some of the common issues here. You can also follow my facebook page for regular updates.
My goal is to inspire adopters to use positive ways of training their dogs, rather than resort to force or punishment 🐾
Lost Dogs
As well as helping with behaviour problems, I also volunteer for Lost dog recovery UK South, helping to re-unite missing dogs with with their owners. We are always fundraising for vital equipment such as traps and cameras so that we can provide hands-on support locally. Please contact me if you need support.
